Architectural bronze is a specific bronze composition sought after for its strength and corrosion resistance, but also its ability to produce very fine, detailed architectural forms.
At Renaissance, we use architectural bronze to manufacture elite fenestration and enclosure systems that combine unparalleled beauty and elegance with uncompromising, 21st century performance for both exterior and interior design applications.
Why
architectural bronze?
We use 385 architectural bronze for our extrusions because its composition – with a copper content of between 55 and 65% – makes it ideal for hot forming processes like extrusion, while retaining high machinability.
This allows us to produce bronze forms that are both delicate and strong – with incredibly narrow sightlines, exquisitely detailed profiles, and precision-engineered mechanical parts.

Bronze finishes
All bronze develops a patina over its lifetime as a result of contact with the air, moisture and the oils on human skin. As the surface of the metal oxidizes, it dulls from shimmering gold to a rich, greenish brown bloom. This natural, living finish is permanently bonded to the metal underneath, protecting it against corrosion, and continues to develop over time.
The patina process we employ in the Renaissance workshop is a man-made extension of nature, allowing us to kick-start and control the patina’s development so we can offer a choice of five subtle yet consistent finishes.
